Instructions: The Wisconsin Author list may be viewed in Author order or in Place:Author order.

To find an AUTHOR:

• enter the Author's name (or portion thereof -- last name first) in the Name box,
• select Author order (click on Author in the ORDER box)
• and press submit.

Author's names should be entered in inverted order (last name, first name). Case is not significant but the comma is necessary when entering a first name.

Some examples:
Smi	positions you before Smiley, Marion
Smith	positions you after Smiley and before Smith, Albion
Smith, J	positions you after Smith, Huron and before Smith, Jabez.
Smith, John Y	positions you after Smith, John Jacob and before Smith, John Yates.

To find a PLACE:

• enter as much of the Place name as you want in the text box,
• select Place order (click on Place in the order box)
• and press submit.

Several places (e.g. Madison) are richly represented to the point of unwieldyness. To find an Author within a Place enter the Place name followed by a colon and the Author's name. AUTHOR and PLACE names can be freely truncated.

Eau	positions you after Easton and before Eau Claire
Eau Claire	also positions you after Easton and before Eau Claire
Eau:Mey	positions you within the Eau Claire listing after Meggett, Gwen and before Meyer, Karl.

Navigation/etc.:

• Use your browser's scroll bar to move up and down the page and use the "next" and "prev" buttons to move to the next or previous page.
• After positioning yourself within the name or place list you can page forward or backward to the ends of the list or reposition yourself with another query.
• PageSize controls the number of items displayed per page. Large page sizes can significantly slow down response time but, of course, reduce the need for paging.
